CYCLES OF ENCAPSULATION

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ENCAPSULANTS AND ENCAPSULATION METHODS WHEN TREATING ASBESTOS

As anticipated in the preceding paragraphs the four classes of intervention correspond to four kinds of encapsulants, based on the different type of applications, the 4 different Asbestos encapsulants are:

  1. Outdoors application, exposed: if the application of the encapsulant is destined to Asbestos beams continuosly exposed to weather action, therefore under continuous stress and subject to progressive degradation. This kind of intervention includes also the extrados of slabs whose extrados is exposed to aforesaid degradation, all those cases in which the cover plates is not isolated by an inner suspended ceiling.
  2. Indoors application, exposed: whenever the encapsulants are used onto surfaces or structural element in Asbestos concrete indoors, as in, for example, a suspended ceileng or a wall.
  3. Enclosed, not visible: application which interests substrates that will be covered with other structures. The classic example of this kind of intervention is the encapsulation of the old Eternit undulated plate, with a new metal cover cap.
  4. Auxiliary: this is the most common case of application, using the product in order to isolate the Asbestos part which we wish to remove, avoiding the fibers dispersion in the air during the job.
